What VPN memory means

On iPhone, the value describes the separate process that runs the VPN. It is not the phone’s total memory use or the app’s storage size. Android uses a different measurement: memory used by the app and core process.

iOS limits the memory available to the VPN extension. On the iPhones tested, its budget was about 50 MiB; the system may stop the tunnel when that budget is exceeded. The actual allowance and behaviour depend on the device and OS version.

Green, yellow and red indicate memory headroom based on available system readings. Red is a reason to collect diagnostics if problems occur, not proof that a failure has already happened. A missing reading is not shown as zero.

Automatic or No limit

On iOS, Automatic gives the core a soft target of 30 MiB. This is an internal memory-management target, not a hard cap on the whole VPN process. The custom range is 25–50 MiB.

No limit disables only the internal soft target. The iOS limit still applies. A higher value does not guarantee speed or stability, while a very low target may increase memory cleanup and slow the app down.

Save diagnostics

Diagnostics keep a limited history. Save it soon after a problem and before clearing logs. A single log may not be enough to establish the exact cause of a disconnect.

1. After an error, open Settings → Xray core → Core log.
2. On iPhone, open VPN diagnostics for recent connection events and memory samples, even if Xray logging is off.
3. Tap Copy or Share. Choose the app you want to use to send the file to support.
4. Include your device model, iOS or Android version, VPMKS version, the time of the error and what happened just before it. For example, switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data or downloading a large file.

Log levels and clearing

Xray log levels control the detail of new entries and take effect after reconnecting. App logs contain event categories; raw Xray messages with server credentials and traffic contents are not stored.

Turning logging off does not remove earlier entries. Use Clear logs to delete saved log files. Copying and sharing happen only when you choose those actions.
